U-SOAR
Recipient participated in a 10-week summer research program in which they designed and carried out an original research/scholarship project (amount of time required for project varies) and then produced a professional research poster of their work and presented their work at the 3-hours capstone symposium event. Additionally, the student participated in a series of eight 2-hr professional development workshops.
Outcomes/Requirements:
Student has successfully participated in the Undergraduate Summer Opportunities for Applying Research (U-SOAR) program. This includes the following:
Student has designed and conducted an original research/creative scholarship project
Student has independently collaborated with a faculty advisor to consult on their project
Student has completed a series of professional development workshops and engaged with their cross-disciplinary cohort in discussions about the research method and applications of creative scholarship.
Student has presented their work at the U-SOAR Symposium. This requires creating a poster or other visual representation of their project, synthesizing key ideas and being able to speak fluidly about them, and discussing their work with experts in their field as well as non-experts.
